Front load kenmore timer won't advance
« on: April 17, 2013, 04:54:05 PM »

Hi, we have an older model 417.4104200 kenmore front load washer. The timer will advance from water fill cycle to the agitation cycle then it stalls. It will agitate both CW and CCW. I have tried unplugging machine for a few minutes then plugging back in but still will not advance. Sometimes it seems to advance through part of a cycle but generally will just agitate for hours on end. If manually advanced it still will not do high speed spin.
My wife is lobbying for new washer, but I want to fix if Possible. I have tools and am a good parts changer, just not a tech! Thanks for any help! Bob

Sounds like your timer motor is faulty. You can remove and mark motor to check it's advancement.

Thanks for reply.
The timer does Advance from the fill cycle to the agitation cycle then stalls. Also if I advance manually it will not spin. Bob

Do you have any water standing in machine? If unit does not pump out properly it will not spin. Check that prefilter on pump is clear.

Nope, no free standing water. Water does pump out. Actually have done like 3loads, just no high spin.
