Whirlpool Ice maker doesn't stop making ice when full
« on: March 28, 2013, 10:34:35 AM »

We have a Whirlpool ice maker, model# GI15NDXTB2.
It continues to make ice when the ice basket is full.

We checked the continuity through the 'bin thermostat'. It was open with no ice on the thermostat & when we put it in ice water.

Are we correct in diagnosing that this thermostat is the problem?

It sure sounds your bin thermistor, 2313633, is bad.  Make sure your meter can read high resistance, the thermistor should have 10k ohms at 77F. Did you put the machine into diagnostics?  I have attached the tech sheet.

The bin thermistor should have a resistance value of 83K - 99K ohms @ ice bath temperature.  It is the switch for monitoring the full bin status that shuts harvesting down & turns it back on.   Sounds like your bin thermistor is defective.  Replace it so it senses a full bin of ice.  O0
