Maytag MAVT754EWW Grinding noise during Agitation
« on: March 30, 2013, 05:48:26 PM »

I have a Maytag Topload Washer that makes a grinding noise when it Agitates and I need the Service Manual (if available) to help with troubleshooting.
The Lower Agitator isn't stripped, therefore could it be the Belt or Transmission? :-\
 :thanks:

Could be just the top half of the agitator is shot.
Unlike some other washers the agitator in your model is non repairable and is replaced as a assembly, part # 22004042.

I did not see a service manual for that model. You could try to run the washer with the agitator removed and see if the noise stops. If so then you know the noise is coming from the agitator.

Hope that helps,

AJ,

I removed the Agitator and it's still making the Grinding Noise during Agitation.
Therefore, could it be the Thrust Bearing (AP4009132), Drive Belt or Transmission (AP4373431)?

Check the pump to see if anything got caught in it.

Also turn the pump pulley by hand in both directions to see if it's ruff feeling or noisy.

I replace a lot of these water pumps for noise problems, part # 35-6780

This may be a bad transmission.

I agree with AJ. Check the pump first. They are a well known problem. Look at the pulley on the pump.If you see a shiny piece of corrugated metal sticking up between the pulley and the pump base replace the pump.
