Disassembly of LG WM0642HW/01 washer
« on: November 13, 2012, 10:56:06 PM »

I've found many helpful videos and tutorials for how to take apart WM0642HW Washers. But can find none that tell me how to take apart the WM0642HW/01 washers.

The difference in the WM0642HW/01 washers is that the control panel is on the top/rear of the washer instead of directly above the door.

I've troubleshooted my washer's problem all day, and I finally believe it's the Drain Pump Assembly. But I can't get at the stupid thing! Any suggestions? Happy to provide pictures if needed :)

How about a video?

Your model uses drain pump part # 4681EA2001T

Hope that helps.

Let us know how it goes or if you have any other questions.

This is my first post so I'm not sure if the format is right ????

The WM0642HW/01 is easier to access.  On the front of the washer between the top lid and the front panel are two clips approximately 1 or two inches from each edge.   You can either use a light source to illuminate the small gap (from the side - not direct) to find these or use a common screw driver to 'feel' for them.   Gently pry the lid upward to pop the clips and the whole lid lifts to expose the two front panel screws. the other two front panel screws are located in the drain / filter access compartment (floor level, left side).   The rest is pretty much the same as demonstrated for the WM0642HW in the youtube videos posted on line.
