SILENT AUCTION
«
on:
October 17, 2012, 06:48:09 PM »
I'm going to try a auction out on here, this is a old simpson meter that works, sold as is.
Model 260 own by my grandfather. Its to big & heavy to carry around, but may be worth something. Bidding stops @ 8pm. Est. a week from today. Wed. Oct. 24th. @ 8pm. Est. Starting bid can be as low as a dollar. Money will be sent to AJ @ appliancejunk by money order or through paypal.
Here's the good part, money will go to appliancejunk for forum maintenance & improvements. Once money clears, aj will message me with name & address, then i will ship.
Thank you & Good Luck.

This is a real sensitive meter. Nice for checking them small capacitors with fractional uf's. I have one laying around in my junk. One day when my children let me have my shop back I might be able to dig it out. LOL

The 260 is a venerable reliable workhorse. Made for over 50 years. Still found on line for $250 to $350 new, although I don't know for sure if Simpson is making new ones. They might only offer the 270. I don't think the 260 ever had capacitance scales. Here is an info resource:http://simpson260.com/
What dash number is your model?? I don't have any idea what old ones are worth, but if it all works, it is worth a lot more than the ten bucks someone bid! Someone will get a good deal on this!!!

We used these when I was an electricians mate in the Coast Guard. First tool I bought when I started repairing appliances. I still have it and would be using it every day if it wasn't so big. Joe Walsh has a new song called Analog Man. Thats me.Analog man in a digital world.

Hi Big Buck,
I bid $20 only to feed AJ. Paid $44 new for my first 260 and have 4 in use now including up at camp.
Unless the meter movement goes, it is always repairable, if it has problems, that is ok.
