I have had all 3 major appliances give me some problems over the past 5 months. I have some posts up on my GE refrigerator and now my Maytag front loading washer which we have had for at least 10 years. I have replaced the wax motor many years ago and did a repair on the main board and we have not had any problems with the washer since then and it has been going strong for probably over 8 years after that repair. Now it makes a squeaking noise and the last load made a real sqeaky noise and the burnt bearing smell. I have been reading a lot of posts hear which have talked about this problem being the bearings being gone. I have looked at the pictures etc. I have read of people replacing the bearings etc.
I have read where the bearings were from China and they failed 5 months later.
Is there a place to purchase the original bearings?
I know that I can purchase the whole outer tub with the bearings all installed but that is $500 and if I to replace the shaft then that is another $130. I am then in to at least $630. That is over half way to a new washer. However if I could find where to purchase the original bearings without the tub I would like to try replacing them. Does anyone know where I could find the OEM bearings for this unit?
Thanks for the help in advance.
