Maytag Neptune hot water won't stop filling
« on: June 06, 2015, 01:28:14 PM »

I have a Maytag Neptune Washer, MAH4000AWW and the hot water valve opens whenever the unit is turned on. The solenoid does not close until the dial is in the off position or you press the start/stop button. Could this be a faulty timer? I have replaced the water valve assembly,  the main control board, and the motor/motor control board.

Check the plastic mount for the machine control board. If there's burning on the mount next to the lower back side of the control board, it shorts the traces and cause overfilling. Cut away the burnt plastic with a knife.

Thanks for the tip tgoods. There was a burn spot on the plastic board mount, but I think I was too late. The printed circuits on the board are burned to a crisp. I am still wondering if the timer isn't bad or since the water solenoids are stuck in the open position that is causing the washer to suddenly turn itself off in between cycles. I would appreciate a link to a site that sells the control boards at a reasonable price.

Looks like the part number for the Main Control Board is # 22002989  - I found these listings on ebay if you want to go used.  http://www.ebay.com/sch/i.html?_from=R40&_trksid=p2050601.m570.l1313.TR0.TRC0.H0.X22002989.TRS0&_nkw=22002989&_sacat=0

I've seen it many times, it's from water and detergent running down the inside of the back panel. You can repair the damage on the board. Grind away the burnt traces and solder on jumper wires.
