gas dryer fires during the drying cycle but doesn't stay on
« on: August 07, 2012, 09:11:19 AM »

Our GE DDG5180RALWW gas dryer usually fires during the drying cycle but doesn't stay on. I opened the door to view the burner. It either doesn't ignite or it makes the click of the beginning of the cycle and the igniter turns orange and the gas is delivered and it begins to heat.

Is it more than just the gas coils that need replacing?

Sounds like a typical gas coil failure to me.  Get the Whirlpool set, 279834, it's the same as the GE part but costs less.
