Ge profile dryer model dpsr610eg0wt squeaks

Ge profile dpsr610eg0wt dryer.
The dryer has developed a squeak when drying. Any ideas? Thank you.

These dryers make 2 distinct noises. A scrub noise cause by worn glides and a squeak noise caused by the rear drum bearing.

To replace that bearing you pop the top which could be done by removing screws in the door jamb or using a putty knife to release the top.
Then get the front off and remove the drum. Clean her up and replace the bearing. If the bearing is going out the glides are probably gone also.
Go to youtube and search ge dryer and all kinds of videos are available that show how to do it.

I would say it's a squeaking noise. How do I check the rear drum bearing?

The only way to do it is remove the drum. Their is no shortcut. If you put it off too long the bearing will eat down into the mounting bracket and the squeal will get louder and louder. Till finally the bearing will break and the tub will rub the element and short it out. The motor could then get binded up, overheat, and die.

Could you give me detailed instructions on how to remove the drum. I have no idea were to start.

Pop the top first. then get the front off. get the idler loose and lift out the drum.
