Maytag Washer Noisy During Spin
« on: April 24, 2008, 10:14:55 PM »

Model #SAW5710AWW, this unit would function fine, but was making a creaking noise during agitation that only got worse during the spin cycle. After a bit of an inspection, I removed the tub assembly to get a better look at what was causing the noise, and found a couple cracks at the base of the milk stool. The milk stool holds the entire tub upright and carries all the weight when in use so is subjected to a lot of stresses. This one finally gave up and cracked near the bottom where the parts are welded together. Replaced the milk stool and now this unit sounds as good as it works.
