I have a whirlpool washer that will only kick into the spin after I open and then close the lid. I have to fully open the lid so I don't believe it is a lid switch problem. Occasionally it will start to spin on it's own, but 9 times out of 10 I have to kick start it. I'm thinking timer? Any thoughts?

Sorry. Model number is LSR5232LQ0 (http://click.linksynergy.com/fs-bin/click?id=omv7WULuxaw&subid=0&offerid=225193.1&type=10&tmpid=2111&RD_PARM0=http%253A%252F%252Fwww.appliancepartspros.com%252Fpartsearch%252Fmodel.aspx%253Fmodel_id%253D266281&RD_PARM1=http&RD_PARM2=%253A%252F%252Fwww.appliancepartspros&RD_PARM3=.com%252Fpartsearch%252Fmodel.aspx%253Fmodel_id%253D266281).
It only fails to spin after the first drain. If I get to it while it's draining and open the lid it immediatley begins to spin. If I don't open the lid it appears that it does not spin at any cycle.
Thanks for any insight!
Amy

Yes, on this model it suppose to pause after drain & then go into spin, controlled by timer. Timer has the pause before it can engage into spin. So yes timer sounds correct.
