Title: LG TROMM DLG3788W will not spin with towels in it
Post by: vasquezj66 on February 03, 2012, 12:08:47 PM
I have an LG TROMM DLG3788W (http://click.linksynergy.com/fs-bin/click?id=omv7WULuxaw&subid=0&offerid=225193.1&type=10&tmpid=2111&RD_PARM0=http%253A%252F%252Fwww.appliancepartspros.com%252Fpartsearch%252Fmodel.aspx%253Fmodel_id%253D5520709&RD_PARM1=http&RD_PARM2=%253A%252F%252Fwww.appliancepartspros&RD_PARM3=.com%252Fpartsearch%252Fmodel.aspx%253Fmodel_id%253D5520709) that has recently stopped spinning when you put a full load of towels in to dry. If you reduce the load to about half then the drum will spin and dry the towels. Could the belt be worn or somehow the rollers got a flat spot and when it hits the flat spot it stops rolling.  Any help will be appreciated.

Thank you Bigbuck for the insight. I will tear apart the machine tonight and see if the rollers are good then  I will order the belt. Would hate to replace the belt and find worn rollers.   Again thanks

rollers would not have any affect on spinning, they would be just noisey, i would check idler pulley though.

You may have a bad motor.  One of the centrifugal springs may have broken off and is causing the problem, not the load of towels.

LG Drive Motor Assembly, part number: AP4438218 (http://click.linksynergy.com/fs-bin/click?id=omv7WULuxaw&subid=0&offerid=225193.1&type=10&tmpid=2111&RD_PARM0=http%253A%252F%252Fwww.appliancepartspros.com%252FAppliance-Parts%252Flg-drive-motor-assembly-item-number-ap4438218.aspx&RD_PARM1=http&RD_PARM2=%253A%252F%252Fwww.appliancepartspros&RD_PARM3=.com%252FAppliance-Parts%252Flg-drive-motor-assembly-item-number-ap4438218.aspx)

Hey all, ordered the part from AppliancePartsPros (http://click.linksynergy.com/fs-bin/click?id=omv7WULuxaw&subid=0&offerid=225193.1&type=10&tmpid=2111&RD_PARM0=http%253A%252F%252Fwww.appliancepartspros.com%252F&RD_PARM1=http&RD_PARM2=%253A%252F%252Fwww.appliancepartspros&RD_PARM3=.com%252F) and it came in record time, only one day. Well changed the belt and found that the one of the front drum rollers got gummed up with hair thus causing it to seize. I freed it up and all rollers well with the acception of a thump but I know I have to replace the rollers next weekend.   Thanks all for all your help.  LG owners it may be a good idea to get into the machine every year or so to clean out all the lint that may fall through the drum seals and could potentially cause the rollers to seize.
