If you don't find anything between the tubs then there is a good chance that you will need to replace the drive motor & motor control with repair kit part # 12002039 (http://click.linksynergy.com/fs-bin/click?id=omv7WULuxaw&subid=0&offerid=225193.1&type=10&tmpid=2111&RD_PARM1=http&RD_PARM2=%253A%252F%252Fwww.appliancepartspros&RD_PARM3=.com%252FAppliance-Parts%252Fwhirlpool-motor-drve-item-number-ap4010145.aspx%253Fpn_%253D12002039) or the main control board part # 22002989 (http://click.linksynergy.com/fs-bin/click?id=omv7WULuxaw&subid=0&offerid=225193.1&type=10&tmpid=2111&RD_PARM1=http&RD_PARM2=%253A%252F%252Fwww.appliancepartspros&RD_PARM3=.com%252FAppliance-Parts%252Fwhirlpool-board--control-item-number-ap4026827.aspx%253Fpn_%253D22002989R) & wax motor part # 12002535 (http://click.linksynergy.com/fs-bin/click?id=omv7WULuxaw&subid=0&offerid=225193.1&type=10&tmpid=2111&RD_PARM1=http&RD_PARM2=%253A%252F%252Fwww.appliancepartspros&RD_PARM3=.com%252FAppliance-Parts%252Fwhirlpool-wax-motor-kit-item-number-ap4009198.aspx%253Fpn_%253D12002535)

The drive motor kit is easy to install and comes with instructions.

If you replace the main control board then you need to replace the wax motor too.

Take a close look at both the drive motor control board (located at the bottom of the washer) and the main control board (behind the control panel) for any signs of damage like burnt spots on the board or burnt parts.

Before ordering any parts I would remove the back panel and take a look at the rear drum bearings behind the pulley. The bearings like to go out on these washers. If you remove the back panel and see any sign of oil or water residue running down from the center bearing it's not good. Also if your washer is getting noisy during the spin cycle it maybe a sign the tub bearings are starting to fail.

Here is the service manual for your washer.

Does the tub spin freely when you give the big pulley in the back a spin by hand?

Your model washer uses belt part # 12001788 (http://click.linksynergy.com/fs-bin/click?id=omv7WULuxaw&subid=0&offerid=225193.1&type=10&tmpid=2111&RD_PARM1=http&RD_PARM2=%253A%252F%252Fwww.appliancepartspros&RD_PARM3=.com%252FAppliance-Parts%252Fwhirlpool-kit--belt---isolator-item-number-ap4009041.aspx%253Fpn_%253D12001788)

If the tub moves freely by hand and you have never changed the belt it would not hurt to try a new belt on it.

the tub does not move freely by hand.

It should and I would say the tub not moving freely is the cause of your problems.

Did you check to see if there was anything caught between the tubs?

Open the door and feel around the front edge between the inner and outer tubs to see if you can find anything caught.
If nothing is there you may have to take it apart to make sure nothing is caught between the tubs.

If nothing is caught between the tubs then you have a problem with the tub bearing.
