Title: Getting Front Loader Bellows/Boot Properly Reinstalled for the non-technician
Post by: Bootman on September 08, 2011, 11:22:42 PM
Looks like AJ is mainly populated with techs. So what I'm posting here is so obvious to them it probably doesn't appear anywhere else in this forum. So to fellow DIYers here's the trick on reinstalling the front panel boot/bellows on your front loader:

If you've taken off the bellows/boot from the front panel, and then found when you replaced it, and put back the clamp, the door wouldn't close, YOU NEED TO KNOW THIS. The front door bellow/boot of Whirlpool/Frigidaire/Electrolux has a RIDGE along the outer circumference that HAS TO be YANKED into the front panel lip. Doing this spreads the front of the boot firmly around the lip. Once you've got the boot hard up against the lip, you can put on the front clamp, and it will be under proper tension. NONE of the videos or pictorials I've seen ANYWHERE show this necessary step! It always seems in the videos that the tech just pushes the boot up against the lip, and places the clamp. Now you know the rest of the story.
