LG gas dryers are more sensitive to venting length and air flow resistance. The gas burner can cause a rapid increase in temperature compared to an electric burner.
Rapid temperature rise in a gas dryer leads to premature burner shutdown (longer time required to dry laundry).

The dryer reset button is worn out and will not maintain the proper setting.  It is advised by LG to replace this switch once it has tripped the first time.  You have to replace this reset switch.  The part number is 6931EL3003C (http://www.repairclinic.com/PartDetail/High-Limit-Thermostat/6931EL3003C/1268365).

Hope this helps.

I believe I have this same issue.  My LG DLG5988B (http://click.linksynergy.com/fs-bin/click?id=omv7WULuxaw&subid=0&offerid=225193.1&type=10&tmpid=2111&RD_PARM1=http&RD_PARM2=%253A%252F%252Fwww.appliancepartspros&RD_PARM3=.com%252Fpartsearch%252Fmodel.aspx%253Fmodel_id%253D5520711) dryer will not heat up, all other functions appear functional.  This happened once before last year I believe, called the repair guy out to the house and he said it was the reset which needed to be reset.  Can you tell me where this reset is?

It is located down inside by the combustion chamber tube.  You will need to disassemble the dryer top panel, front control panel and front door panel frame to get to it.  Best to order the part first before disassembly.  What is your model and serial number?
