Title: Washer not agitating
Post by: SmrtAss on July 14, 2010, 11:31:03 AM
My washer just stopped agitating and making me mad.  The Dogs were replaced a few months ago per another post on the site, but i have not been able to find any other ideas here...  The washer does go through the entire wash cycle, fills, spins, even dispenses fabric softer and bleach, but no agitating.

A friend said there are 3 possibilities, 1) the water level switch is stopping the water but not starting the agitating.  2) there is something wrong with the "reverse" on the motor keeping it from agitating and 3) there is something wrong with the timer.

Anyone have any ideas?  I'm about to drain it and take it apart to see what i can as my wife has dictated this is my top priority.

Maybe you need to check the agitator and see of the bolt backed out. Seen it.
If the lower agitator is not stripped out then I suspect you have a broken pin on the neutral drain plate. This pin keeps the worm gear in place for agitation. Look though the training manual for a thorough explanation: AJ training manual (http://appliancejunk.com/directdrivemanual.pdf)

I checked the agitator bolt, its in there solid...

I'm going to check the pin on the drain plate next, I also had another recommendation about the possibility of the gears on the agitator shaft stripping or breaking.

I'll report back progress once I drain, flip and disassemble it...

Any other ideas while I work?
