Title: Kenmore Front Loader Wont Fill
Post by: dksgirl on January 31, 2009, 01:04:52 PM
I love my washer! :) But recently I've noticed alot of mildew smells, :( and although I've cleaned where I can get to it, I wonder if this could be why it has suddenly stopped filling?
Model 40412 Washer (http://www.sears.com/shc/s/p_10153_12605_02640412000P?vName=Appliances&cName=Washers+%26+Dryers&sName=Front-Load)

I put a blanket in last night to wash and I put the detergent in the drawer. It went through the cycles, but the blanket was still dirty this morning, and the detergent was still on it. Only a trickle of water had gone through. When I tried to run the cycle again, I could see only a trickle of water. HELP. I can't afford Sears' handyman prices unless it gets down to drastic measures. Is there a way to check from where the water comes in to where goes in to the tub so I can maybe clear it? I am very handy with tools, and with some sort of instructions or diagrams I can easily fix it.

Or is there a pump that actually assists the water pressure in the filling process? I don't remember ever hearing a pump running during the FILL process. I assumed that water pressure alone was what did that.

I haven't got a schematics or diagram, and I need to try the least expensive way first.
Thank you!
Nancy ::)

The screens on your water valve is probably clogged. Take the hoses off your machine the screens are right there. Pick them out with a screwdriver and clean or replace.

Thanks! That's certainly worth a try. I searched on Sears' website and finally found a diagram for the machine!! YAY. There are TWO valves on this model... one when it first comes in and one at the back of the detergent dispenser in the very front of the machine. They are both electronic valves, and I sure hope it is JUST a screen issue. One is $30, and one is $20. Of course that's cheaper than paying to have it replaced for me, but... then again... I am not sure how to check them.. YET...
I'll clean the screens. And let ya know.
Thanks Mr. FixIt

Have you tried it with all the Wash Temperature settings to see if it's only the Hot or Cold Water Valve ?
