I need some help my Maytag Stopped working, it blew the thermal fuse. It was set on low heat it was really hot when it stopped. The parts that might be the culprit are all expensive Control thermostat 68.45 the Temperature switch 119.03 how can i test these items to confirm which ones i need? The Dryer is 15 years old i hate to put a bunch of money into it as high as these parts are i could have more in it than i could buy a new one, also i need a wiring diagram, I didn't see one anywhere on this site. Any help would be appreciated.

If you have a jumper wire or can make one you can temporarily bypass each switch one at a time to see if it corrects the problem. I have several jumper wires I use all the time for this type of check If you need to make a set get/buy some small alligator clips and a length of insulated wire at least #16 about a foot long. This should help to diagnose the problem

Thanks Thorning, Yes I have jumpers and the thermal fuse is blown I jumped it out and the heating element comes on but the motor doesn't start tested the PTS button with Ohm meter and it is good. I am wondering if the motor has a reset switch anywhere? i discovered a wire tie some how got in the blower i believe it either locked the blower up or slowed it down causing the thermal fuse to blow. i checked the discharge chute and it is clear. any ideas? Thanks for replying.

The motor gas an internal thermal switch and it normally resets after it cools down but sounds like yours got too hot and is now toast.
