Title: Ceramic type ignitor for gas dryer
Post by: Thorning on November 11, 2020, 03:30:49 PM
All of the gas dryers I have worked on over the last 8  or more years use an ignitor that is made of a ceramic material that is very brittle. A slight mishandling of these will result in breakage. Is there an alternate type of ignitor used for gas dryers on the market that is reliable and affordable ?

You have to handle and install these with great care. I stopped using an impact gun and literally use a 1/4" ratchet wrench with short socket to install!

I also use a short handle ratchet to remove these when necessary. I recall seeing a  piezo electric ignitor on gas grills and wondered if that would work on a dryer but since it is only a momentary spark I am not sure . Any info about that type of device ?
