Post by: cvcman on November 08, 2019, 06:52:09 AM
New Whirlpool small top freezer fridge for beer...I have the settings at "normal" both in freezer and fridge,,,have open glass of water with thermometer in it...temp hovers around 34-35 ...I turned the freezer more toward cold and the fridge more toward warm...still thin layer of ice on open water glass but bottled water and beer not frozen
The freezer is almost all the way to coldest setting....ideas ?
Thank You

model is WRT111SFDW04

What are you trying to achieve?

You said "Fridge too cold starting to freeze water ?" and yet you are turning it to a colder setting.
What is the freezer temperature?
It should be around 0 degrees F.

The knob in the fresh food section controls the temperature (thermostat).
The knob in the freezer adjusts the air flow between the freezer and fresh food section.

I am trying to keep the water from freezing in the fridge section....I turned the knob in the FREEZER toward cold to shut down the flow into the fridge, I turned the knob in the FRIDGE toward warm slightly...

I would set the in freezer knob to recommended .

Then turn the in fresh food towards minimum and start from there.

They effect each other so it is a bit of a pain.
The thermostat is usually at the top of the fresh food so unless there is some air going into the fresh food it does not regulate the temperature properly.

I am assuming that the compressor does cycle properly.

Ok I set the freezer at normal and have the fridge turned almost all the way to warmer and there is still ice layer ( thin) forming on top of open glass of water on top shelf...
the air temp is 33...
The compressor IS cycling normal
Whats up ??

Sounds like the thermostat is bad.

I would get it fixed under warranty.

Not that I know of.
But I am not familiar with that exact thermostat.
