Title: Whirlpool duet gas dryer not heating Model WGD72HEdw0
Post by: Thorning on November 06, 2019, 03:30:22 PM
I was given this gas dryer for repair and need assistance from readers to help find the problem of no heat . This unit is a electronic  control model with several buttons on the front panel that react properly when pushed and the drum turns well with no problems. I have dismantled it and cannot find the cause of the problem . All thermostats and the thermal fuse  test OK. Their is no code indicated on the display and I cant figure out how to get this unit into diagnostic mode. The glow stick/igniter turns on when viewed thru the peephole on the side but no gas flows .It glows for a few seconds and then turns off. The solenoid coil (a one piece item as compared to older design 2 piece coils ) shows a resistance reading as it should be for the 2 prong connector side but not a correct reading for the 3 prong side.. Will this 3 prong solenoid coil side not reading correctly make the gas valve not allow the gas valve to function properly.?  HELP .

Read continuity, open replace. I don't use resistance readings. Seems pretty straight forward it's the coils.

Thanks for your input. That is my thinking also. One thing about the new Duet  design is the difficulty of taking the front cover off just to get at the guts. The older design has a 2 piece cover. A real PITA with about a million screws to work on this new one.
