Title: craftsman air ratchet #756188030
Post by: dreadlock on June 15, 2018, 06:13:01 PM
This Air ratchet is probably 35 to 40 years old hardly used.  Went to use it today and it just kept running.  When I removed the black plug there was a spring and some other part ( ball maybe)  in sad shape. I oiled it and put it back.  Same thing when I took it apart again There was nothing in there.  From a diagram I see a ball. a spring, and an O ring. Does it sound like replacing these three parts should do it. Probably under $ 15. I don't want to spend for nothing. Or should i buy a new one it does seem fairly quality though??  Thanks

I'd try a shot of carb cleaner thru it while running, then follow with a few drops of light oil ?

Did it simply disappear?

It certainly seemed to. I took it apart I'm sure there was no O ring.  I could tell there was spring and some thing else, not even discernable as a ball. I put that back in added some oil and replaced the plastic plug. When I opened it again nothing. could I have lost it, maybe. What I can say for sure, there is nothing there now.
