Title: GE bottom freezer wont drain defrost water
Post by: Wardco on August 22, 2017, 12:19:23 PM
Very frustrating !!.    I have a GE bottom freezer that refuses to drain the defrost water...
I have thawed the ice several times and cleared the drain tube.

The issue is that the frozen water near the drain hole does not thaw... (it is a long way from the heating element)... so the water keeps pooling till eventually the fan blades get buried in water and freeze.. then the fridge stops cooling !

I have tied a copper wire around the glass tube of the heating element and ran the wire down the drain tube hole  hoping that it would keep the tube from freezing.... no luck !

Is this a defrost timer that is running on too short of cycle ???....

Has anyone else had this issue before

Thanks in advance !

Model #? GE Bottom Freezers haven't used a defrost timer since last millennium.

I had one and it was the evaporator fan motor if you can believe it.
