Title: MEDC200XW0 Maytag Dryer making a "whirring" noise
Post by: TigerTeaux on May 27, 2017, 12:31:17 PM
I turned on my dryer  and heard a 'pop' sound and it started whirring. It's still heating and the clothes dried ok, but it's noisy. Any suggestions on where to start to find the problem and fix?   A friend listened to the noise and thinks tension wheel is bad, but I don't hear squealing or thumping.  Wondering if it's the motor.   Here's a few second youtube video of the sound it's making if that would help point us in the right direction to fix it:

You may have one of the  drum support rollers wearing out its bearing. Also the belt may have started to tear apart and part of it is slapping  against the housing or drum. Take the drum out  and also check the slipper glides  at the front of the drum area for wear or damage.
