Title: Whirlpool Gold Refrig constantly cycling
Post by: don_paris on February 20, 2015, 05:52:54 AM
I have a Whirlpool gold french door refrigerator that cycles on for 25 minutes off for 1 hour.  I have not opened the door for the over 12 hours and I have mapped start times and stop times to show it was on a predictive schedule.

I turned off the ice maker and have even had the ice maker replaced.  I thought that problem was the ice maker because with the ice maker on, even with a full ice bin, the refrigerator runs for a very long time.

Any ideas?

Dirty condenser, bad cond fan,  or both!

Or bad overload. But I'd need a model number just to be sure.

If it's maintaining temperature, don't worry about it. There are cheap temperature loggers on ebay. Get one so you don't have to sit there and watch it for 12 hours. Post the temperature graph and we'll let you know if it's normal.

Model number Gz25FSRXYY2.  I could ignore it but it is running about 5.5 hours per day.  I'm pretty sure that is more than it is supposed to.  I'm not sure if the compressor is running or just a fan.

Part in number #24 in back of refrigerator is what to check.  It runs any time compressor is running.Condensor fan motor is the name of the part. Also this all could be a normal time of operation to keep your food cold. What are the temperatures in both the the refrigerator and freezer as tested with a thermometer? http://www.appliancepartspros.com/unit-parts-for-whirlpool-gz25fsrxyy2.html (http://click.linksynergy.com/fs-bin/click?id=omv7WULuxaw&subid=0&offerid=225193.1&type=10&tmpid=2111&RD_PARM1=http&RD_PARM2=%253A%252F%252Fwww.appliancepartspros&RD_PARM3=.com%252Funit-parts-for-whirlpool-gz25fsrxyy2.html)

Temp is 40 in fridge and 0 in freezer.  If this sound normal maybe it's paranoia setting in.  I didn't think it ran that much before.

It probably doesn't have that much dust on the condenser either!

If your ice cream is hard and your beer is cold to drink, I would ignore the running time.
