Title: LWA50AW Amana Washer leaking
Post by: ammons.scott on November 08, 2013, 09:07:55 PM
The washer is leaking water from underneath during all cycles. With the front cover off it appear the water is coming out of the top of the pump near the belt. No water is leaking from any hoses and it doesn't appear to be coming from the tub. Is it likely this is the pump leaking and will replacing the pump fix the problem? What else could it be?

I took the motor and pump out and the pump is rusted to the motor connection and the pulley is partially rusted. I was able to cut the pump off but the connection pieces are still rusted together. Do I really have to buy a new motor or can the pulley be replaced.

Clean the rust off the shaft and replace the pump.  You shouldn't need to replace the motor pulley.

I have the same model washer and thought my pump was leaking but when I looked into it closer, it was actually the tub seal. That turned out to be a pretty big job, replacing the seal. Sounds like yours is pretty obviously the pump though.
