Title: SHU5316 UC Deco panel for Bosch DW
Post by: Repair-man on June 10, 2008, 05:40:54 PM
Any of the Bosch people here able to help me find a plain black door panel for the above model?  The current unit has a very heavy wooden panel which is weighing the door down, and my custome want to remove it. My issue is finding a sales dealer in Austin, or I could probably order it.

There are 3 different door outers listed - you'll need the rest of the Enr number to identify the correct one........

The rest of the numbers are 006.

I now have a different issue besides the panel. Initially I went out there on a complaint that the control display would lock up an 37 or 40 minutes and remain there indefinitely. I consulted Technician Brian, who was kind enough to point me toward a control issue. Today I installed the new control (including jumper) and the unit started up and ran fine.

Customer calls me and say now it gets all the way thru the cycle up to the last minute. There is a big 1 staying on the display, and it won't drain and finish. Any thoughts?

Probably a heat issue - the single commonest problem with this range of machines was underfilling due to sludging of the matrix transfer pipe and pressure chamber. The heater box has a diaphragm switch in the end - insufficient water and it won't work properly.

Proceed by removing door outer panel, then the lower cover plate - the transfer hose will be seen in the bottom left corner. Pull it off and clean. If the problem doesn't clear, remove lid and left hand side panel to reveal the fill matrix and pressure switch. Lift the matrix away and remove the pressure chamber. With a bit of fiddling it can be stripped and cleaned for re-use.

Advise the customer that heavy deposits must be removed before washing. There is a UK engineer's catchphrase - "It's a dishwasher, not a waste disposal unit".

Thank you, Penguin, for your response. From what you said, I gather that a clogged water inlet valve may also be a factor, since the diaphragm switch must be satisfied to work. I'm not familiar with all the matrix gobbledegook you mentioned, so I will avoid that issue unless a new valve does not solve my problem. Obviously it is no longer a board issue. Thanks for your insight!

Now back to my first question about the door panel...this model has a suffix of 006.

Nah, water valve will work or not - problem is that the level control will tell it lies if choked.... Dead easy, once you have a look and see what's happening.

Thanks for the help so far, Penguin. I went to the customers house and watched the unit fill, etc. It seems to get enough water, although I don't understand how this water system works on the left side. I noticed a slender red plunger which is connected to a switch box on the left side. This plunger never moves up or down at all during the wash...is it supposed to?

I would really appreciate a service manual for this dishwasher, even if you have to PM me with it. Bosch has not done us local servicers any favors by not providing better info on their expensive products, and I have a customer who is growing impatient. I'm trying to keep from having to pull this thing and tear it apart, but it looks like there may not be a choice in the matter after all. I have already sunk a lot into replacing the board, so I am anxious to get this thing back on track.

Gegsy on UKW has dug up the tech info; I have forwarded it to AJ.
