You may have a faulty main board, but since it's an off and on issue I would suspect thermistor wr55x10025 (http://click.linksynergy.com/fs-bin/click?id=omv7WULuxaw&subid=0&offerid=225193.1&type=10&tmpid=2111&RD_PARM0=http%253A%252F%252Fwww.appliancepartspros.com%252Fge-temperature-sensor-wr55x10025-ap3185407.html&RD_PARM1=http&RD_PARM2=%253A%252F%252Fwww.appliancepartspros&RD_PARM3=.com%252Fge-temperature-sensor-wr55x10025-ap3185407.html)

You have at least three sensors. The one I would suggest replacing is the one that is attached to the top of evaporaor coil.

Sometimes it melts completely. And sometimes it just won't stop running.

No there is only one thermistor is on evaporator. I would replace that one and the board.

I had one doing the same thing. Replaced both parts. I haven't been back so it must have fixed it.

Could be that the thermistor is out of place or in need of repositioning.
